The Mar Thoma Digital Archives is a visionary initiative of the Mar Thoma Sabha Museum in collaboration with the Mar Thoma Animation Centre, created with a sacred mission — to digitally preserve and share the rich literary, theological, and historical treasures of the Mar Thoma Church.

Rooted in a deep commitment to honouring and safeguarding the Church’s spiritual and cultural legacy, this initiative offers a dynamic digital platform that brings together:

Key Sabha publications such as Sabha Tharaka, Suvishesha Dhoothan, Sandharshini, and Yuvadeepam

Rare and out-of-print books on theology, liturgy, and Church history

These collections provide a window into the evolution of the Mar Thoma Church — its reformation journey, mission efforts, theological insights, and socio-cultural impact through the ages.

The project is guided by the inspiring leadership of Most Rev. Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan, who serves as its President, along with a dedicated Advisory Board comprising clergy, scholars, and professionals: Rev. Viju Varghese, Mrs. Prema Thomas, Adv. Suresh Koshy, and Mr. Senmon Philip.

The archives have grown from the passionate efforts of many. The contributions of all the previous Directors are worth mentioning. For over 16 years, Mr. G. M. John has faithfully spearheaded this mission. Over the past year, the digitalisation process has been actively led by Mr. Easo Chandy, with valuable support from volunteers including Mr. Sobin Philip, Mr. Jeffin M. Thomas, Mr. Vivian Mathew Thomas, Mr. Joel Cherian Varghese and Mr. Tony Easo.

The website’s design and development were made possible by Mr. Sujin Kurian & Mr. Johan Varghese assisted by Mr. George Ipe.

Alongside the digital platform, a dedicated Physical Archives is being established — a climate-controlled space to preserve original manuscripts, rare publications, historic photographs, and artefacts.

Together, these efforts form a living, breathing record of the Church’s journey — a heritage archive for the future, offering scholars, believers, and young minds a chance to engage with the story of a Church deeply rooted in faith, mission, and transformation.
